Rowton Brewery
Former farmer Jim Preston is brewing in a converted cowshed at the High House Farm, Rowton, near Telford. Jim who used to work with Jack Hanby at Wem, was prompted to launch his Rowton Brewery after the arable farm's tenants turned organic and could support him with a ready supply of barley.

Jim was helped in the early stages by Pete Hockins who retired from brewing at Unicorn brewpub Ketley several years ago.

The first beer was Rowton Bitter 3.9% and we at the Red Lion were proud to receive the first firkin at the end of November 2008. It has proved to be a popular brew as it is a light bitter and we continue to stock it today as one of our three Real Ales.

In 2013 we now stock two more of Jim’s real Ales being Total Eclipse 3.8% abv SIBA silver award winner and Moonstruck Mild 3.3% abv which are both growing in popularity. We continue to stock Rowton as one of our guest real Ales.
